Our History
Treïs is a family-led investment group and our family founders continue to be at the heart of what we do.
We enjoy a rich history of family entrepreneurship, corporate citizenship, and business performance. Our family business was founded in 1898 in Cherbourg (France). Starting as a local wholesaler in Normandy, it became a regional wholesale business and over the next century, grew into a global retail operation owing to the vision and determination of previous generations.
This progression continues today with Treïs – a business that has evolved to become a steward of responsible investment, creating positive change for present and future generations. We are proud to continue to build on the legacy of our founding family and their sense of economical, social and environmental responsibility.
Our name is an expression of our family roots. Treïs, meaning three in Norman French, refers to the name of the original Normandy flag and to the three lions illustrated upon it. Linked to this is the depiction of a tree in our logo which represents our deep family roots and focus on the importance of the environment, growth and patience.
